Blue Stag???

I bought a small colony from a local reefer that was doing a tank break down. He said he thought it was an ultra blue stag or maybe he said ultimate blue stag, I can't remember and he wasn't 100% sure of the ID himself.
Here is a picture of a frag I broke off and gave to a friend, it's more blue in the tank. The colony had browned out in the tank I bought it from and is starting to color back up for me.
Thanks.

After looking at some random pics I think it could be something similar to a miami orchid stag. Any other suggestions? I'm not sure if its even a stag.

that is identicle to my miami orchid,i think the blue stag is more of a solid blue throught the entire coral, the way that has purple tips with a tan bottom indicates to miami orchid.

i could be wrong but thats what i see

Thanks Trinity1012. When I bought it 3 months ago it was solid brown. It is starting to color up nicely. It was a very large colony and I picked it up for very little. Looks like my little gamble paid off.

I have what is supposed to be a blue stag and the tips are a tourquoise color. Not anything at all close to pink.
Hope this helps

Yes, this absolutely helps. Any opinions or info on this coral helps. I wish I could get a pic of the colony in the tank to turn out the way it really looks. It's just like the frag, except the purple or pink is actually blue, of course the brown stays brown.

IMO it can't be ORAs Miami Orchid if it did not come with the lineage. And there are too many Acros called "ultimate" or "insane" etc blue stag to be certian of that. So if you're looking for a show name i think the only proper thing to do would be to start your own. Copying another is making an imposter, but that is my rant on SPS and show names.

For a species ID i am thinking Acropora insignis.

Thanks Jason, I was hoping you would chime in. I wasn't looking for a show name, just a guess on the species. My friends and I have already given it a nick name after the guy I bought it from. Not planning on ever trying to sell it, just make some trades with local guys.
Thanks again.

Hey if it is thriving and becomes popular then IMO you have all rights to make a show name. Therefor developing lineage of your own.
