Blue stag

Hey guys, I have a 125 mixed reef, I got a blue stag for 70% off because the top was bleaching, I have 5 other corals in my tank 4 LPS and one SPS, a German blue digitata, everything is doing well so far, and the stag has polyps showing along most of it, but the bleaching looks to be continuing a little bit. It is on the bottom of the tank since I have only had it 3 days and was light acclimating it.

I drip acclimated the coral and dipped in Coral RX, should I cut off the bleaching part, or leave that on to see if it grows back? If I should cut it off, how far below the bleaching should I cut?

Also it is currently in a lower flow part of the tank, should I put it right in front of the powerhead? I did not want to overreact and start moving since there is polyp extension on most of it.

Thanks for any help.

Pictures coming in a few mins.

Actually as I look at it, it does not look any worse, and actually looks like it might be having a polyp show up in the bleached area, but I could be wrong, please tell me your thoughts...

Bottom to show extension

Watch it closely. Too me, it doesn't look like bleaching, but tissue necrosis. If the tissue necrosis continues at all, I would cut a couple mm below the tissue line to try and stop the spread. As you say, it may not be needed.

It looks pretty healthy otherwise. I suspect it fell onto another coral in the shop, which caused the tissue loss, rather than being an unhealthy coral.

I would break the tip off into healthy tissue. If all else is well, it will likely form a few new corallites once it covers over. If you leave it, it will likely grow algae on it, before it regrows and it will then take months to grow over….
