Hey I noticed my blue star has this red dot of desegregating tissue and the starfish itself almost looks deflated. Any advice on curing this or what it may be?

Thanks

Good luck the survival rate of stars like that is really bad..
Its likely just headed towards starving/wasting away..

Yep. Once they start disintegrating, you might as well take it out so it doesn't end up polluting your water. Blue linckias fall apart quickly and are considered difficult to keep.

It seems like it's still alive. It barely moves tho. Also I don't see its little feet stringies and the wound may be getting bigger. I'm leaving town tomorrow so I don't think I'm going to risk it. Here are pics

Welp I took it out. I think it got exposed to air because us have an auto feeder and when feed mode is on my display water level drops a couple inches and the Star was always hanging at the surface on the glass.

Starfish Dying

Starfish Dying

I had several starfish die like that. There is apparently a disease attacking the starfish which causes them to waste away. Unfortunately, it spread to my sand star as well and killed it.

I had one for 2 years and it was always putting an arm out of the water so I do not believe the rumors about allowing them to touch air are true. It eventually died when I had a week long power failure due to a hurricane. All that survived was a cardinal fish we now call Pope.
