Blue Striped Clown/Amphiprion chrysopterus

A few people do. They are dellicate shippers and difficult to get through quarantine and attain some larger sizes. They aren't as commonly imported for these reasons.

not my picture...I have seen these in person before...they are really cool, they look like they have white stripes, but the way the light hits them it turns the stripes a light blue.

I have two, I wouldn't call them a pair, because they don't seem to get along. Even though I've had them for over a year.
There are three kinds of chrysopterus
1. yellow tail
2. white tail with yellow pelvic fins
3. white tail with black pelvic fins.

I have a white tail w/black pelvic fins (female) and a yellow tailed one (male). The yellow tailed chrysopterus is more desirable, because they don't tend to lose their yellow coloration. White tails seem to always lose their yellow after a few weeks under strong lights such as MH. My white tailed kept her yellow in the quarantine tank under pc lights for four months. Once I added her to the display tank. She lost her yellow in a couple of weeks.
Mine came in with ich, which I treated in a quarantine tank for two months. I am told these usually come in with brook so I got lucky. If you aren't use to quarantining fish and medicating them, then I wouldn't recommend these clowns. I haven't heard of anyone getting these fish to come in with no parasites or health issues.

Here is a short video of them.

WOW! I've never seen those before! Anyone have any Info on them. Where they come from, Size they attain, etc?

So are they blue like that all the time or just some of the time. Think i have one of those but mine doesnt look that dark of a blue. has like a sky blue to his stripes and tail. Has a yellow face and fins with a white tail. but the white stripes appear to be blue. Or is the blue from the lights? I have a black and white damsel and his white stripes dont give off the blue hue that the clowns look like. Got him for like 20 bucks because no wanted to buy him at the fish store. Shes kinda big almost 4 inches I would say. Tried to take a picture but the thing is afraid of the camera just swims and hides every time i lift it up.

aktopjian, you have a clarkii. even though its a poor picture, the stripes are noticeably wider than a chrysopterus would have.
