Blue Tang Care Level

Hey. I am looking to add a blue tang. My LFS is against it saying they have like a 50% death rate. Is this true? Are they hard to keep alive?

Are you talking about a hepatus tang? It may be that your LFS does not feel your tank size is sufficient.

ive had a blue hippo tang for 6 months and the fish only had an ich outbreak one time and it was very minute and only lasted about 2 days since no ich, eats like a pig, and is probably my favorite fish in my tank

The OP has a 36 gallon tank. Read his other threads on the same subject. I think he is waiting for an answer he likes.

And by the way, if someone is really after the answer to their question regarding fish compatibility, they would post relevant information such as tank size, tank age, and other inhabitants.

It's not often a LFS will suggest against a fish puchase so its not often we get to say this. Listen to your LFS and skip this purchase.

And kudos to that LFS. I see so many who advise just to sell, so that when I see one that tries to act rational, I have to give them high regards.
