blue xenia? anyone have it?

True blue xenia (Cespitularia) is often difficult to aquire. Sometimes you can get the East African strains on-line. Just make sure it is labled as Cespitularia or otherwise you may be dissapointed. Other strains claiming to be blue xenia will hardly have a tint of blue in them.

Its a coral that I would not mind getting my hands too. I hope you find some and keep us posted!

Aquabucket's right! I have a "blue" xenia that has no blue in it at all. The growth pattern is totally different on the blue than any other that i've seen. It's basically a large base with thick stalks about 1.5inches long with pulsing frilly polyps.

That is'nt the rare true blue xenia though.

Thats the same stuff that Jason gave me at the May meeting and Kass is right, it is not Xenia but I forget what he said it was, maybe it is Clavularia.

Well it looks like xenia but it is'nt the stuff from south africa we were talking about. The true blue xenia.
That's the only blue xenia I ever heard of that's actually blue.

I don't even know if the true blue pulses. I know it grows alot slower and is harder to propagate. When Ive seen it f/s it was usually around $150 for a small stalk.

I used to have a strain of the bar xenia that looked green/ bluish but I lost it in the heat. It was just regular xenia though not the true blue.

You might be thinking of anthelia/waving hands Ron but that doesnt pulse.
