I have this Blue Xenia, well I think thats what it is (might be cespitularia but don't know). Its encrusting and doesn't have fat stalks .When its stressed it retreats all the way back to the encrusting base making little balls, not like any other Xenia I seen. Anyhow, I just want to trade for some softies since my tank is only PC.

Also can make frags of the orange SPS on this pic if anyone wants...

ps, sorry for the crappy cellphone pics...

im sure its just the crappy pics, try to get some better ones, right now it looks just like umbellata

Trust me, it's not.

I got it from Flamehawk a few months ago.

It's definitely not umbellata...it looks just like a colony of cespitularia that I have in my setup.

I think it may be an Anthelia sp,but certain it is not umbellata as this looks to be an encrusting type coral.HTH.

ask Flamehawk

I bet is you ask Flamehawk, they would be able to tell you what it is!

cause they grow like weeds and take over your tank, suffocating other corals.
in the begining, its cool to see something grow so fast, until its too late and you cant get rid of it.

I'm just curious...and google isn't helping. What is umbellata and why doesn't anyone want it?

OK I finally was able to get some ok pics of the xenia, plus I now have 3 frags mounted in rocks. The pics still don't show the true color, hard to show with my crappy camera.

LMAO!!!

That is just totally rude.

hey Sonic,

is that the same tank I sold you a million years ago?

No sweat cubano. Blue xenia is not really blue (unless is Cespitularia, which this is not), its just not white or red like pom pom or elongata. And I wouldn't PS any of my pics...

Hey Frankie, nah man this is not the the 90 I bought from you. I sold that one a couple of years ago. I downsized to my original 18g nano until I move into a house.

I guess no one wants these frags, on to the LFS they go :D

OK so finally I got an ID straight from the source:

"encrusting blue anthelia identified by Julian Sprung"

I knew I wasn't crazy...

Now you can charge double :-)

Here's my suggestion for a new thread "Rare encrusting LE Blue Anthelia certified and approved by Julian Sprung for Sale"

Ok, on a serious note now.

I have some rare encrusting Xenia elongata that loves overflows that I would like to trade for a piece of your blue anthelia.

Good luck!
