I am upset. Its comments like that that perpetuate these high prices. Maybe he was joking, but the random noob who reads that will see dollar signs, and start chopping...

This naming thing is out of hand, and nobody seems to realize, that the prices are a direct result of the names. Dont think these "rare" morphs werent around years ago, they were, but they were called "blue zoo, red zoo, pink zoo... etc, and they went for like 10$ for a huge frag. Now its almost impossible to find the same frag for less than 10$ p/polyp...
Think about it...

I would hate if I had to to choose from "blue zoo, red zoo, pink zoo...etc" and hope I got these frosty the snowmen.

Supply and Demand determine price. Not the name.

If I named these zoas Radioactive trash, people will still want a frag.

My opinion is this, it isn't naming the zoas that drive the prices up, it is the demand for a nice colored zoa. It is the fast paced world that would rather read a name, know what it looks like , and being able to know if they want it or not.
I do tend to agree that if a zoa/paly has a "name", it does tend to drive the price up, but that is only because someone will be willing to pay more for it than you are. If you don't like the naming of zoas, start a post about how it is out of hand, don't hijack this guys post, trying to show these beautiful "Mr. Freezes frozen butt cheeks that got this way because he sat on Frosty the Snowman's lap" zoas.
How's that for a name? LOL.
I too am sick of seeing 49 posts asking for an ID of a zoa/paly, when they can go to www.zoaid.com just like everyone else does, and they are all on the first page of the Zoanthid forum. While one post is on the first page asking for help in placement or possible disease. I didn't think this is what the forum was for.

Just remember this, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and if you think the price is too high, someone else thinks the price is a deal.

Just my 2 cents.

Not trying to start a fight, but if I posted this in the sales forum "blue zoas for sale", what is the first question that is going to be asked?
Can I see a pic of them, right?
Now if I list "Tubs Blues zoas for sale", most people know exactally what those look like, and while they will still ask for a picture, it would more than likely be for size and quality reference.
Like I said, I feel like the whole naming thing has gone overboard, but I still feel like it helps people know what they are having offered to them.
Just pay what YOU think they are worth. If other people want to jump on the "name" band wagon, and pay way more for the zoa, let them.
Again, just my 2 cents.

Like i said i call them 2 tone blues and thats not a catchy name, is it? Also the lol usualy meens someone is joking and imo means in my opinion so I hope I didn't offend. I used to post alot on these forums and it's stuff like this that leaves a bad, to semi bad, taste in the mouth. I will be the first to say the name game is out of control along with some, not all, of this high pricing that is going on. The reason i say some is because the wholesalers we buy coral from aren't ignorant they see what is selling and what everybody is wanting and slap a bigger WHOLESALE price on it which the lfs has to pay which is then passed on to the consumer at a price that reflects what we pay especially the nicer corals or rarer to le types of corals. As a lfs owner it gets really old hearing people gripe about the prices of corals being so expensive when everything is getting more and more pricy everyday like gas, cigarettes, food, cars, and so on and so forth? Some people need to understand this is not a cheap hobby in no way shape or form. And the larger the hobby gets the more pricey the the corals that everyone wants are just going to get more expensive thats how supply and demand works. Do i like how the names make stuff more pricey NO but i cant change what i pay for blue zos compared to say dragon eyes or other more common zos.
