BM 250 pump restart issues

Anyone know how to fix the pump restart issue on the bubble master 250? I bought it used and was told it had this issue.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm annoyed at spending 20 minutes getting the pumps to restart.

when mine was having restart issues it was the mesh was a little to long. trim around it around the impellar. after that no more issues. before i did this banging it would kick start it though hehehe. but really just trim the mesh and its will be all good. or you can take it down to Reefgeek down in Carson and they will see whats wrong with it.

BTW after i trimmed the Mesh i got even better bubbles in the skimmer

trim it so the wheel and the mesh are even. no the mesh is there to chop the water and bubbles up. the thing is the mesh spins and spins and slowly it expands from the center to the outside. then it rubs on the out side of the pump body and it will stall it.

Trimming the mesh only solved my restarting issues on a BM 160 by about 10%. And I trimmed WAY down (like 40mm). What did work was to blow down the airline hose, or hold your hand in front of the pump's intake. Blowing down the airline hose is preferred, as holding your hand over the intake will most often saturate the skimmer with oils from your skim, altering bubble surface tension, and preventing a foam from being produced for up to a few hours...

mine does the same thing. all i do is push down on the pump to release the air trapped between it and the inlet and they fire up every time.

I've had to take mine apart and manually restart them. I'll have to try the blowing in the airline method.
Thanks

I haven't read all the threads on this but I've heard it is a common issue which is pretty annoying considering the price of the pumps. I just switched out my mesh with needlewheels and it did not change the restart issue. I just ordered new ceramic shafts so we'll see if that helps. I'll give an update once I receive them.

Anyone contact the manufacturer? I can't believe these have this issue either considering the price. Would love to find out if the new parts help out.

Guys if you can call Reef Geek they will help you out. they helped me with mine. and since this is a BM250 thread i shot a video of my skimmer last night

enjoy

BECAREFUL WITH THESE SKIMMERS I HAD THE PUMP CRACK INSIDE THE IMPELLAR HOUSING . AND THE INSIDE OF PUMP RUSTED AND RAISED THE COPPER LEVELS TO KILL ALL MY SPS BEFORE I WILL NEVER USE THIS SKIMMER AGAIN .

some how the plastic inside cracked and the pump started rusting when i put my finger into the pump the inside wall cracked some how and the impellars were orange with rust

hmmm its weird for that to happen. i just took mine apart yesterday. i dismantle it once a month to inspect the inside also. and clean anything off the mesh to keep it on tip top shape. all pumps in tanks should be cleaned regularly every 3 months to inspect them to avoid problems like that. i have a Gen X pump with a damaged impellard also and it cracked it and started to rust. luckily i was able to pull it off my skimmer.

Wow thats bad. look like the inner wall around the shaft had a crack. You can see scratches on the magnet part all over. Also the mesh needed to be trimmed. it was probably putting alot of resistence on the pump and was not running balanced inside. The mesh is suppose to line up with the wheel all around. thats why some people have start up problems because they dont trim the mesh. Really sucks to loose all that SPS. Hey did you ever resolve your chiller problem with B.
