Geez, I got way behind on this thread, still the most entertaining and easy to read thread here. I have a question though, why are you so concerned about keeping your alk at 8? The other thing that concerned me was the difference between your two alk test kits, one is way off. I'm honestly curious as to why 8? If I told you what my alk was you'd probably drop your jaw :)........that's why I'm asking. I have some things going on in my tank I don't like at all and I'm honestly getting concerned........oh heck 12.2 Dkh!

Its really not just a Zeovit thing, NSW has an average alk around 7.5-8 dkh so I try to keep it around this.
But it is also Zeovit related, If you are running Zeovit and you have an alk above 8.5 dkh you can have some major TN problems. Same with the FM system. I used to keep my tank about 10 before running Zeovit but now I shoot for 8.

I'm a little late on catching up on this thread but..... Perhaps this was some kind of spawning event because I think I remember Weatherson saying that when his spawning event occured there was a foul smell. But who knows? ;)

On another note, those pictures are getting much cleaner and crisp. Are you sure there is water in that tank? :D

Yea I think you are right about the spawning event. Makes the most sense out of all the theorys so far.

Thanks for the Compliment on the pictures. Its a slow learning process and I really don't spend as much time with it as I should.
I hope Gabriel comes over soon to give me some pointers

Actually right now Im running 2 12k 400 watt reeflux bulbs on the ends and 1 20k 400 watt Radium bulb in the center.
I supplement with 4 T5's which right now are 2 Sfiligoi Super Actinics and 2 Aqua science Duos. I then have 2 110 watt VHO super actinics

I switched to the Aqua science Duos in the front T5's so that I could have better lighting when the actinic period was active.

Very nice lighting.
Thanks much.

My German is doing great! Keep up the good work. :)

The efflo does look better finally. Glad I gave you a piece.

How are you maintaining ORP so high?

Im not sure... Great skimmer, not feeding so much, faulty probe. Take your pick

I choose Door #3, Bob.

Looks like Marc is giving his endorsement to profilux!

I did try and recalibrate it and it says its correct. go figure.

Well, I know that with ozone it is possible to achieve 375 to 425 easily. Without, it seems quite unlikely. Most tanks run 325 or less.

My probe lies, but since the glass tip melted off yet again and I don't have another probe on hand, I'll just look at the number and then look away quickly. ;)

Well Im finding out that Zoas dont do so well in my Zeovit tank. The polyps are shrinking and the color is fading.. Im going to try and spot feed them, and Marc recomended Vitamin C

It's been my understanding that Zoas (and most softies) don't do so well in Zeovit or other ultra-low nutrient tanks. I'm running something similar to Zeovit and my Zoanthids have so far stayed colorful, but they don't spread nearly as fast as they have in other tanks. Probly need to target feed them more...
