Boiling rock?

I've read that you can boil rock to kill everything on it. I understand that is the good and the bad. I have a few pieces of live rock that really don't have much coralline algae if any, about 3 medium pieces( 12 lbs maybe) But what it lacks in the purple stuff it makes up in aiptasia. How long should i boil each rock? Any pointers?

Why not just bleach it? Put rocks in a bucket of tap water and add bleach. Let it marinade for a while and wash out. Set outside to dry. Repeat with muriatic acids to go a step farther, this will help with reducing phosphate.

second that. the bleach followed by muriatic acid (read up first so you neutralize first) will kill and remove the outer layer of the rock where bad stuff could be built up. the boiling should kill stuff - though i worry about releases of gas - especially zoas: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2143164 & http://reefcentral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1083843

I boiled one piece last night. I opened the windows in the kitchen and turned the ceiling fan on and closed off the door to the rest of the house and still wore a ventilator. I appreciate the words of warning but I said the rocks only had aiptasia not even or very little coralline. The rock turned out pretty good zero aipatasia survived, myself and my dog made it thru the boiling process. Would i do it again probably not. Nothing smells better than boiled rock. Any links to the bleach methods.
