Yea, I was expecting a dead coral when I got home. I was very pleasantly surprised to see it in this shape. you can see the fully gone carolinia in front of it. in back is a green digi that didnt have a single bad polyp.
Well, I thought mine was just tissue damage from glueing and fragging at first but then it started to spread. It kept getting a little worse for a couple of days but then it just stopped. Wierd how they all did that.
Well I'm glad they stopping. That coral grows really fast once it gets settled in so it should fill out nicely in the next few months. The new growth likely won't cover the old growth per se but it will grow over the top of it and you shouldn't be able to see the bad parts which typically form on the inside of birdsnests anyway unless you have really good flow. Thanks for the update.
Chris
Yeah, I don't think it will be a problem. Mine was on a central stalk with branching parts at the top. It only got the stalk and the rest looks very good.
Yea, I was looking thru the side of the tank and did notice that the backside of this piece is pretty well gone. I have had some corals that did this only to encrust back over the dead parts. hopefully that will happen here. I do have pretty good flow int he tank. but as of now, I have this one in a very calm area of the tank. I have a pump that was going to direct flow across this area, but it is off as I think it caused part of the issue.
