Hi guys, I been out of the hobby for around 15 years and I can't remember anything about .

What is a good book for newbies that explain everything from start to finish and then for fishes?

Thanks

Thanks guys for the info. I'll be ordering this books.
The new marine aquarium
The conscientious marine aquarists
Marine fishes and
Reef secrets

I wanted to order Fish diseases but is too expensive $100.00 and also book of corals propagation and reef invertebrates but in total we are talking about a bit more than $200 on 3 books.

I wanted this books too to learn about everything so I can do everything the right way.

I had too many problems in the past and now I want to do it right.

Do you guys think the books I'll be getting (The new marine aquarium, The conscientious marine aquarists, Marine fishes and
Reef secrets) are good enough to start the fish tank with filter, lights etc... and to know what fishes and corals I should put in the tank?

I'm asking because my brother in law spend about $800 in fishes in the last 3 month and actually $500 of them were in the last 2 weeks and now he only have 3 fishes left in the tank.

This is why I ask because I don't want to learn the hard way. Also want to learn about quarantine, any of this books talk about thank?

Any other suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

just take it slow and research. A great online resource is here on reefcentral and also over at www.wetwebmedia.com

one thing to keep in mind is that there is no one correct way to do this. Take all the info you gather and come to your own conclusions.

if you have questions ask and im sure you will get lots of responses. It can be a bit overwhelming but with a little knowledge you will have a beautiful tank.

Those books are good choices. Reef invertebrates and calfos propagation are great books also. You can always add to your library as time goes on.

I had a good book that I loved but can't remember the name, I think it was something like atlas tropical fish.
It showed you all types of fishes .
Is there something good that give you details of every fish and recommendations of them including what corals are good to be on the same tank?

Reef Aquarium Fishes and Saltwater Fish by Scott W Michael should be in every fish keepers hands. Marine Inverts by Dr. Shimek is also a good refence. Reef Secrets by Nilsen and Fossa is a good book

CMA by fenner is good for info on fish families, but I actually think Natural Reef Aquariums by tullock does a better job of explaining modern concepts of filtration setups.

If you want to get more detailed info, all 3 of the Reef Aquarium books by Delbeek and Sprung are great. #1 is a bit out of date (#3 revisits and updates a lot of #1), but 2 and 3 are books everyone should own.
