Friday I picked up an established 210 Gal tank with 250lbs live sand, 250lbs TBS live rock, Full Set of Corals, Inverts and about 6 adult fish. I was able to transfer everything keeping it submerged in roughly 100 gals of original tank water.
Made it back to my house and immediately placed the live sand then rock back in the tank along with powerheads and air stone with fish for the night.
Saturday I installed the sump, skimmer everything and got it all running just fine. I added 140 gals of fresh RO saltwater.
Sunday I notice many of my cleaning crew and bristle stars are dying. My NH3 lvls are 1.25 so I do a 20% water change. After the 20% water change ammonia tests come back at zero. Should I continue to do daily 20% water changes? Also, if I were to add Prime to the tank would that ultimately not allow the tank to cycle like it needs to? Looking for your recommendations here. I would hate to lose anymore livestock especially the fish and inverts.
Here is a breakdown of what I have:
All Glass 210 with lids
Custom Cabinet (Cherry)
3x250 watt MH w/ 3 ice packs (Retro)
4x96 watt Sunpaq Retro
1 Iwaki pump
1 Little Giant pump
Custom Sump (aprox 30 Gal)
25 Watt UV filter
ASM G4 Skimmer
200+ lbs of TBS Rock
Digital Aquatics Reef Keeper
1 yellow tang
1 blue tang
1 bi-color blenny
1 lawn mower blenny (I think... or scooter)
1 sand sifting star fish
2 cleaner shrimp
1 firefish
1 pistol shrimp (he is in there... don't know if I can get him out)
some hermit crabs and snails
1 mushroom
1 green star polyp
