I've tried looking on here to get ideas on how to make the DIY canpoy and stand for a bow front aquarium, so i'm leaving it up to luck to see if anyone has any ideas on how to do it and make it look good.

I have built many DIY regular stands but this will be my first bowfront.

Any help will be greatly apprieciated. Or if you have any pics of your diy bowfronts that would also help out a ton! TIA

72 gallon?54? To build the front of the frame I would say glue and screw
3 2x4s together and cut the bottom and top front out of that.

Like this:

Then use benderboard or some other flexible wood to finish.
Just make sure to properly glue boards together otherwise
you will have a weak spot.

For my 72g bow, I traced the bottom to get the shape and added 1.5" all around. Then transferred that to a piece of plywood and viola - the base. After that it was normal stand construction.

I've only build canopies for my bowfronts
but the same could apply to a stand, just brace the corners a little better

Canopy:
I cut a template out of cardboard first to fit the top of the tank
I then cut a top and bottom piece out of 3/4" plywood
I cut the bottom piece to 1" wide, so it will just rest on the top of the tank
I then took 1x2 pine and cut them to 12" pieces, then nailed them to form the outside of the canopy
I cut the flap out after everything is assembled

Pretty much I mimicked the stands available from AGA for the bowfronts

I've got some picks in my gallery

Hey thanks for the advice and pics... this tank is a 46g bow by the way.... any more pics and or designs will be much apprieciated.
