Boxfish not eating

Ok I have a spiny boxfish, he is to slow to catch the ghost shrimp before the lions or huma gets them, and spits out the silversides.

any suggestions on how or what to feed??

How big is he? I wonder if you can make a boxfish diner ala melev's mandarin diner.

Basically a container that is just big enough for the boxfish but no others if he is young, then add meaty tasty foods like mysis inside.

i would try everything i can. My brothers eats frozen mysis. I make some of my own fish food and add garlic in to get the fish attracted maybe that might work for you.

I re-read your stock list and you might try some littleneck clams, the boxfish and huma will probably both go after but it will be less competition.

It's not that he won't eat, it seems like he wants the live food but is too slow to catch them. He caught one the other day because it was cornered in a rock, but my lions and huma are freakin' pigs and eat all the shrimp. I have garlic, I will give it a shot.

Well than try to use a baster and suck up the live food and than put it right in front of him. May be put the live food in fresh water to shock them for a little so the food gets shocked and when put in the tank not as fast. Good Luck..

I won't tell you what to do, but if he doesn't eat I would find him a home before he dies if your tank can't support him...

Wow! It only took 22 hours, for someone to flame me and tell me to ger rid of a fish if I can't get it to eat. I am still working on getting him to eat. Thanks for the advice.

Woo Hoo!! Got ghost shrimp today and he cornered one and ate it. I also bought some hermits to see if he will eat those.
