Brain Coral Placement

I just purchased my first LPS Coral, a green brain. The seller told me that it can be placed anywhere in my tank midway on the rock work down to the sand substrate. I've also read that it needs to go on the substrate. I have 150W MH lighting with t5.

Can a brain go on the rock work or should I keep it on the bottom?

I don't think it's placement is necessarily as making sure it has proper flow and water quality You want flow going over it, but you don't want so much flow that the brain coral doesn't open up t it's fullest.

I've seen it on rocks and on the substrate. Mine is on the rocks. Just be sure it is secure in it's location to ensure it doesn't fall off and injure itself.

What kind of brain coral? Something like an open brain, (trachyphyllia), I would want low to medium flow. A favia, moderate to high. Kind of a play on words.

My understanding from the LFS is that I have a neon green open brain coral (trachyphyllia).

I've decided to put it on the rock about midway from the lights to the substrate in a medium flow area. So far it appears to be doing great. At night, it has been extending it's tentacles. I target feed it tonight for the first time. It rolled all the tentacles into the center and puffed up.

To secure it on the rock to prevent a bump and fall from a snail, I was going to use expoxy on the base. Will this be a problem?

This one has fused to the rock. Open brains little different.
