Brain coral sting clownfish?

Alright so I came home today and found one of my snowflake clowns missing. After searching around the floor, I knew he didn't jump. Then I saw the hermit crabs and snails eating the remains of the clown (very little by the time I got home but I could tell it was him). Now my question is how could this have happened, I only have a potters angel, and a dottyback in the tank. I also have an emerald crab, a few hermits , snails, and a fire red shrimp. So a few days ago I noticed him hosting my Aussie brain coral, and didn't think much of it besides the brain coral at times getting a littttttttle bit smaller (still huge). But my question is, can the brain coral sting the clown to immobilize him? I can't think of any other reason as to how or why the clown could have been eaten Thanks for any help guys. And my levels are pretty perfect , nitrates a little bit high but nothing that's causing and sps or corals to be effected, let alone fish.

I can't see that happening unless the clown was perched there half dead already. Was this a lobed brain? See what others say. Sorry about the loss.

Clowns are tanks and all I've ever seen is pieces of the coral floating around the tank if they decided to bite it. I would say it was ill or another animal got to it, but not coral IMO.
