Brain coral umbilical cord?

So I was doing some maintenance of my reef and happened to move my open brain coral slightly (which I normally don't do), and found that it was attached to the sand by a long umbilical type cord. The cord broke off, though. I hope I didn't hurt my brain!!! I pulled it from the sand and it's like 4 inches long, about the diameter of an earthworm, and is hollow like an intestine.

Anybody else ever see this?

It's not from your corals it's from a worm that was living under the coral.
