Branching Hammer Too Big

Can a branching hammer coral get too big? Mine has about 30 heads on it and some have started to grow downward. Since these ones are facing downward, they are becoming droopy and are not being supported by their skeletal base. I was wondering if this is a way for them to kind of drop heads off to start new colonies or what? The droopy heads are all still fully extended, just drooping. Thanks for the help, Charlie

because then the clowns wont have as much to play in. have you (or anyone) ever seen a hammer coral than gets too big/grows weird and becomes like this? im going to wait it out and see what happens for right now, i was just wondering if this was common or what. thanks

My frogspawn/hammer hybrid(I think)has done this, it has tried to what appears to be dropping babies, but the bottom where it wants to drop is too far, so there is just this hangy growth off of a heathly looking head. But there is this tiny, 0.1cm diameter green looking piece below on the live rock so maybe mine did drop. Even with feeding I do not get huge growth, so there is not much need for it to drop or reproduce much. I would frag a small amount of yours if you are concerned.

well one of the droopy heads in less than half an inch from a rock so i am going to wait it out to see what happens if the droopy head touches the rock, should be interesting
