Hey all,
I just purchased a gorgeous 3" royal purple with electric blue striations and cream & black spots Crocea Clam, Tridacna crocea. I picked him up Sunday for $80 (after my discount, normal price $160). I placed him on the sandbed, and his mantle fully extends. He is not gaping. He reacts to changes in light - not all light, granted, but most large, swift changes in light. He is under a 150w HQI DE 10,000k Metal Halide Pendant. The conditions in the tank are pristine.
My question is this: the clam seems to be expelling strands that cump otgether from the rear, right about near the foot. Could these by bussal strainds? Signs of stress? Thanks, guys.
