brand of salt

I'm sure that this has been asked a bunch of times already.
Sorry for a repeat.
Thanks for any advice.

I am less than 60 days from startup. I've been doing my homework on lighting, circulation & filtration.
I'm pretty satisfied on where I am on the learning curve on the hard goods side. (still more to learn, of course)

I'll need to pick a brand of salt (and stick with it I assume)

Please feel free to share preferences and advantages or dissadvantages of a particular brand.

Thank you.

For the most part this comes down to personal experience and personal preference. You will find people who live by as well as swear against each type of salt. Most people use Instant Ocean. Tropic Marin is considered good by most people but it's a more expensive salt so not as commonly used.

Personally I use Ocean Pure which is a lesser known brand that I order from the west coast. It has good levels and mixes great so I plan to continue using it even though it costs me more for shipping than for the salt itself.

I use Instant Ocean. You can find it at just about every pet/fish store. You never know when an emergency comes up and you don't have enough salt.

Another Salt thread. :D

I myself use RC only because it helps me maintain a 400 pmm calcium level at all times without having to add liquid calcium or purple up.

Thank you for the input.
Any other opinions are welcomed.
I should also ask "the kid" at the local LFS, they hired a highschool boy (reef tanks at home) a month ago, turned him loose on the sw side of the store. The tanks and livestock all look better.

Seachem Reef Salt. They start you out at a pH of 8.4. Most salts start you out lower. This helps you keep a higher pH in your system.

I've been using Seachem's reef salt for a month now too and dont have any issues with it... but i've been battling my pH... wants to stick at 8.0

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to answer "another stupid salt question"
I appreciate the input from everyone.
Now to see which recomended brands are stocked locally, I don't want to freight salt unless I have to.
