Branding sps names

How many years are required before branding a specific lineage wild coral your aquaculture piece? I have seen some hobbyist buying similar wilds then renaming after their names with very little proven aquaculture growth before releasing a brand.

Is there a coral branding requirement, or can any joe blow grow a wild frag for 6 month then rename it after them?

pretty sure you can call anything whatever you want. there is no governing authority to regulate such things. that's why you have to be cautious when purchasing a "named" coral from anyone including some vendors.
