Brazilian Butterfly

I recently received my Brazilian Butterfly from the divers den. The fish looks great, and its colors are amazing. But, I cannot get this fish to eat. The Blueline Angel is a hog, and will now even eat from my hand. But the little butterfly will not eat any foods added to the tank. He is picking at the LR, and eats pods off the glass, but will not eat anything I add. I have tried the following foods: Mysis, Brine, Squid, Krill, Flake, Pellet, Homemade mash, and clam. What should I do for this little fish>

Michael,

Thank you for your post and recent order with LiveAquaria. We sincerely apologize that you are having problems getting your Brazilian Butterfly Fish to eat. When he was quarantined at our Aquaculture Coral and Marine Life Facility he was eating Spirulina Brine Shrimp, Hakari Mysis Shrimp, PE Frozen Freshwater Mysis Shrimp, ORAGlo Fish Food, and Aqueon Marine Granules. We would recommend continuing to feed these foods and you may want to try soaking his food in a garlic supplement such as Garlic Xtreme, as this may entice him to eat the food that you are feeding.

If it seems like he is still not eating after you have tried to entice him to eat we would recommend putting him in a quarantine tank by himself. By doing this you can make sure that he is eating and the food that you are feeding him is not being eaten by his tank mates.

Please keep an eye on him and let us know if you are having and further problems.

I have been soaking all foods in Selcon, Garlic Extreme and Vit. C.

I will try to remove him to my QT, and see if I can get him eating>

I just wanted to report that I finally have got my Butterfly eating.
Today was the first time that he has taken any food, but he did eat today. He only took a few pieces, but at least it is a start.
