Breeding clams

Hello all, I was wondering if anybody could shed some light or maybe post a link on breeding tridacna clams? I know spawining events happen to alot of people in their display tanks and its usually not a good thing but is it possible to collect eggs and sperm and attempt to raise them. Im guessing theres a metamorphesis at some point where they go from free-swimming larvae to settlement. Would rotifers be an option for a first food or are the larvae algae eaters( Nannochloropsis, tetrasalmis)?Thank you for any info you can provide me with.

Do a google search on aquaculturing clams. I found a couple of good sites that have .pdf documents related to commercial farming of clams for the aquarium trade. The articles are directed mainly at larger scale operations however the basic concepts and processes are there.

heres a few i have. its not going to be as easy as you might think. first you will have to induce them to spawn, have one eject eggs and one sperm. collect both and mix in the proper ratio. keep them suspended while there larva, and feed them algae. then you will need to inoculate them with the right zoox right as they go through metamorphosis, and have lots of luck
