i have a couple 3 striped damsels. i was wondering how do you tell the diff between male and female and how can you get them to breed?

hints, tips, suggestions......

besides the obvious of having good water quality...

you don't even have to have good water quality with damsels. i had yellow tails that spawned regularly and my dusky's did about every 3 weeks for 3 or 4 yrs till the male died, the female continues to spawn But she's helped out by a female tomato clown, they are a sight to see.

as far as telling the sex of each, the only way i could tell with the yellow tails was by watching, the female laid the eggs, the male fertilized them :) with the dusky the female is considerably smaller and has a more round shape, the male has/had a flat faced oval body. good luck with your endeavors, i never was able to rear the larvea, they are so small they can't even eat S strain rotifers.

Good luck raising them. They're still one of the species that needs lots of research. Post info when you get it, please.
