Breeding emerald crabs

So today I learned my female crab is really a male (picture will be below) so I got curious and am searching on breeding, would be cool to have tank raised emeralds! Anyways I am wondering what all would be.needed for a successful breeding?

What will be needed for feeding the platonic young?

Is it true that the young can't have any surfaces in the tank your raising them in or else you'll risk deformations?

I read as well that you should aim for 4-5 crabs per 20g... Since I know what to look for when buying them should I get 2-4 females for better chances?

Are the females as territorial as the males?

Should I do all base rocking in the tank and cycle til it becomes live to avoid any possible hikers that could harm my emeral larvae?

I have more questions but I'm between searching for my answers and cleaning house xD thanks guys!

Hello!

Thanks for posting about your crab. I just started my sure-to-be-lifetime aquarium in Sept, and the very first emerald crab I brought home instantly gave birth to larvae! I did my best to save them, pipetting them out of the water before mom could prey upon them. They lived for several days, first in a heated glass dish outside the tank, then re-introduced to the tank with a breeding box I had obtained. I fed them rotifers and phytoplankton.

By day 4, all of them had disappeared!

Please tell me what your experience has been! I'm deeply interested in breeding crabs, and have had beautiful times with the adults. The fry, however, seem to have died and dissolved in an environment I thought was free of predators.

I'd really welcome any ideas you have!

Best to you, and Emmet! My Patricia also does a 'food dance,' and eats from tweezers! I'm crazy for her and all of my crabs!

Dan
