Breeding Tangs

They feed on tunicate larvae and larvations so yea pretty much impossible plus getting them to spawn would be very hard because they need a high spawning rise. I know some people in hawaii tried it and had no luck and they were raising flame angels so they knew what they were doing.

I agree fully w/ whats been said. I will mention the folks w/ the greatest success in spawning tangs are public aquarium.
You really need groups of tangs and importantly space, both of which are provided in great amts by large pblic tanks.
Now the fry are another issues, however on this point, i will say that a number of tang fry where raised successfully using field collected plankton by a few groups over the past years

It would be interesting to see if the public aquariums would allow fish breeders to collect the eggs of the tangs that do spawn in their tanks. That might give us the opportunity to develop crucial fry raising techniques that will be necessary when tangs are no longer available to the hobby.

The guys in hawaii I think got pretty close to getting a few tank spawned ones through. There was an artical on the web, I think they got them to about 40 days. So not impossible!
