Brightwells KoralColor

Anyone using this to help sps color up? How much do you dose and have you seen your sps color up? :) Started dosing this and was just wondering how long it takes before you see any results.

Yes - I've been dosing 2ml / day for the last month on a 200gal and am noticing color changes in mostly my zoes and paly's...nothing that I can tell on the SPS yet.

I´m using, 2 drops daily. Go slow, I was dosing 8 drops and I don´t like the results

Now 2 drops is ok and I saw a improve in my colors

Best Regards

thanks for the info. Was dosing 16 drops per day as per instruction but lessened the dosage to 5 drops per day. I have yet to see results though. :)

It took me about 2 full weeks to start seeing any difference at all, but now changes r definitely starting to occur. I dose as directed on the bottle to my 120g.

i used this product for a while and it does supply some cool coloration. i was dosing daily at the recommended dosage.

i stopped using it because i noticed my colors were becoming very pastel-ish. the last straw was that the mouths on my miami hurricane (lps) were fading. they returned after i stopped dosing.

good product for sps, imo.

I see. Still hoping my SPS color up. Its been 1 week and i haven't actually seen any difference with the coloration of any of my corals.

First off the dosers thing is not the best approach unless your are full zeo or the brightwell full pseudo zeo....neither approach is required or a good approach in my humble.

If your corals are pest free and your water is dialed in with almost -0- phosphates, nitrate in the 2 to 5ppm and your alk and ca and mg levels are where they should be your corals will not need chemical dosing de jour to get to their proper colors. Get the water chemistry dialed in and ditch the dosing.

90% of coral coloration issues are caused by nutrient issues from bad water going int, overfed and or ca/alk balance issues.

Seek out some TOTM folks like Menard who do not dose.

Seek out a build thread by Serpentman in larger tanks area.

They do not dose and their tanks/systems are envious.

My water params are dialed in already. However my reason for dosing is because of the fact that im not actually sure what the colors of my sps are to begin with. I got them either bleached or browned out already showing only slight hints on what colors they may have been. This is why ive been dosing the koralcolor to help aid the sps to regain their colors. All my sps are also wild colonies since its practically impossible to get any tank raised corals here from where im from.

I wish I was a 4 hour drive and ferry trip away to dive and get wild caught colonies.
I'd even grow them just to replant them elsewhere later if I lived near the reefs. You're lucky.

With the wild colonies the stress impact of going from their habitat to your system will stress them out. If I were you I'd just relax with the dosing and give it 4 to 8 weeks to allow them to settle in. The corals should color up on their own as long as they can acclimate to your system. The adjustment and acclimation is the biggest hurdle for wild caught stuff.

Please post some now photos and then post the after's later. It would be great to see that transformation and see what kinds of SPS you've plucked out of the waters near Phils.

Yeah ive read that most wild colonies will brown out initially and color up on their own. Here are some pics of the sps i have right now...

As you can see most of them are either brown or have a greenish hue. The only one piece i noticed that had changed colors was a small green acro frag which has become a bit brighter green. You can also see that the SPS are all doing very well. All the polyps are extended.

Actually i brouhght down the dosing of the KoralColor already. From 16 drops a day to 5 drops a day only.

Shandy, are you using any natural sunlight at all? It should be easy to install some solar tubes over your tank to get more lights to the corals.

The tank gets indirect sunlight from 7am up to about 12noon. Can't install solar tubes because the tank is at the ground floor and there is no way for me to install solar tubes. Besides i think the 250watts halides im using is more than enough for my tank. Sorry for the previous pics cause i took them when i just added the sps to the tank hence there was still sliming. Right now the sps are all doing well but haven't really colored up yet.
