Bringing fish out of hypo

Well stupid me I was messing with the plumbing today and broke my 55 gallon QT tank. I have had a tang in QT for 6 weeks with the salinity @ .015 for the last week. (had been down to 9)

So now I am wanting to move him to the display and I cant find any info on how long to acclimate him to the salinity conditions or if it can be done?

I am going to drip acclimate him... how long should I do this for? Should I put him in a 20 long and bring it up over a few days instead?

Thanks for any help!

dripping would be the best way a SLOW DRIP of course...do this until the salinity in the bucket or container were the fish is being dripped is the same as the salinity in the display... i would say anywere from 2-3 hours or so preferably even longer if you can just remeber to drip very slowly.

There are a lot of LFS' that actually keep their main tanks in the .012 to .015 range and even people that don't QT drip them up in a few hours without ill effects. I believe it is the jump from true hypo 1.009 to 1.025 within that same time that causes real damage. It's been recommended not to jump .002 points within a 24 hour period which is a great rule of thumb, but like you said, in a pinch he'd be fine.
