Bristle Worm? How did it get here?

I had a clown fish in my new bare bottom QT tank for 30 days. Transferred him to the DT last night without problem. Fish has looked very healthy and a good eater with no signs of any problems. After transferring the fish, I went to clean the bottom of the QT tank and under the PVC was what looked like 2 bristle worms (~0.75-1.0 inch - pic of one included). Any idea how this got into the tank? The only thing that seems logical is by "seeding" the sponge filter in the HOB filter of the DT prior to starting the QT the sponge carried bristle worm larvae and were able to populate the QT. Is this possible? Do bristle worm larvae spend time in the water column like zooplankton?

They don't spend time in the water column, not to my knowledge, but they do start out very tiny. If you transferred a sponge from the main tank, they could quite possibly have been on it as tiny babies.
