Bristleworm from Chaeto dip?

Hey guys,

Well I got my two balls of Chaeto yesterday from my LFS. The tank at the LFS was so much filled with junk that I was too scared to just throw into my refugium area in my sump. I decided to give it a 30 minute RODI water dip. I know some people just toss it in there and don't mind the hitchhikers but I just didnt wanna risk it and then end up with more serious problems. I have tons of copepods in my fuge and on my live rock in DT anyways.

As soon as I put the Chaeto in the dip, a minute later all the pods started tumbling down to the bottom of the container and one thing unusual dropped dead also. It looked like a caterpillar with little tiny hairs on it. See enclosed picture. Was this a bristleworm? Sorry I'm fairly new to the hobby.

I dumped into the fuge and gave it a 16 hour lighting phase with a flow on it.
I'm glad I dipped it...lets just hope the Chaeto will survive the shock. I heard its pretty hardy. I checked this morning and it was dark green and light green on other parts just like yesterday. I guess I'll see after a week.

yep, bristle worm. They're not that bad but look like **** and can sting you when you are moving stuff.

Well, somehow a snail survived the freshwater dip. lol Incredible how some of them are very hardy. He was on my Chaeto ball this morning digesting something from the leaves. I spared his life...:rolleye1:
