Broken Camera

Hello,

I have a Fuji s5100 and my son threw it and it landed on the battery box and broke the tabs that the battery door use to remain closed. I took it back to bestbuy and the warranty doesnt cover so they tried to get me to have them fix it. Well they are going to charge me $350! When I exclaimed, 'Why are you going to charge me such a high price? I might as well buy a new camera for that!' They just gave me a funny look as if they didn't know what I was talking about.

Anyway more to my question, where can I get a new battery box? I have tried gluing the tabs back on and that didnt work so I assume that I need a new one.

Thanks

Sounds to me like a perfect excuse to buy a new camera. :)

You might try ebay. Its possible that you could find a non-working one cheap and just swap parts.

Tried it. The springs that keep the batteries touching the contacts a pretty powerful and the tape loses grip after a couple of hours.

does your camera charge the batery while inside of it or do you have to take it out to recharge it?
If there is no need to take the battery out then just glue or weld the contacts on the battery itself?
Or may be try to have another repair shop? maybe a electronics shop would be able to fix it and for cheaper than a camera store?
