Broken heater on inside

I dropped my heater and it broke on the inside of the glass of the heater. Is it still ok to use? It is just on my QT tank right now with nothing in it.

In my opinion having broken electrical equipment and water is asking for a disaster. I would toss it and get a new one. Don't risk getting ourself or your livestock shocked.

This. I'd be weary of using anything electrical thinking it was broken. Double if near or in water.

They should get rid of all glass heaters. Only good thing is they are cheap, but you end up buying another heater again anyways. Thanks everyone!

Meh, been in the hobby for 30 years ..... glass 'stick' heaters are proven tech and mostly enduring. Sure, I've had a few fail and a couple get stuck on, but generally they do fine. There are some that are made from titanium, but not sure how even those would react to being dropped. Best advice (which I don't always succeed in following) is to not drop them

I've popped a few from forgetting they are on, lowering the water level and then raising it back only to hear kerpow! Also gives an interesting tingle when you touch the water with the coils in the water. Wouldnt recommend it.

I would think more than a tingle. Lol
