Brooklynella help

One of my clarkii clowns in quarantine looks like it has brooklynella (breathing fast and covered in mucus). I've always heard you are supposed to give them a formaldehyde dip or bath to treat it. I bought formalin, but the directions on the back say to add 2 drops per gallon and to repeat after 48 hours. So should I follow the directions on the bottle and treat the quarantine tank or do a dip/bath instead?

Oh and the QT tank is a 5.5gallon and it only has two clowns in it. If I do the dip what concentration do I need (I've read 1cc per gallon, but just wanted to make sure), and I'd need to clean out the QT tank too right (new water and wash the flower pots)? It seems like it'd be easier to just treat the tank, but I'll do which ever is best.

I just went through that and my clowns didn't make it. I used 3.7ml per gallon @ 37% formallin concentration, bath for atleast 1 hour at 77 degrees. Make sure you have plenty of oxygen in the tank with a air pump and airstone as the formallin will quickly deplete oxygen in tank. Clean out the quarantine tank and everything in it and use new mix water. Repeat everyother day for a couple times.

Ok thanks. I just started the bath. So I should repeat the bath in 2 days and just watch them after that?

Sorry to hear about your clowns.

Well they are done with their bath. They seem to be doing alright, the female who was doing fine (no signs of brook) pre-bath is sticking to the bottom of the tank now. They male who I saw the brook on is still acting the same; swimming in one spot with fins clamped in and breathing fast. Hopefully they will make it. I plan on treating them 2 more times every other day. 1cc per gallon for 45 minutes and washing their tank out each time (luckily it's only a 5.5 gal). If I'm doing anything wrong please feel free to correct me!

My clowns came with brook, I used fresh water and formaline dips for 8 minutes once a day every 3 days for 9days total. 3dips. they both recovered and are doing well.

I kept them in QT for the full 40days , I keep the 10g qt at .018, but it has no medication in it. I also add antibiotics to thier food when in qt.

How bad was the brook before you treated them? I think my male started getting it yesterday. He was swimming at the top of the water, but I just thought the female was bullying him. I wish I had looked at him closer. Also what kind of antibiotics did you use?
