Brown algae on substrate

How long has the tank been setup? What are the water parameters? If it is diatoms the cure is time and/or an increase in flow.

Im with drew the diatoms will eventually die off from lack of there feeding sorce if the tank is new it will almost always cycle like this.

positive they are diatomes. Cycled for a month with biozyme ph 8.2 low no3 low no4 alk good. I did use tapwater though. Time is what heals from what i have read. Any other way of speeding up the process?

If you have extra powerheads, throw them in there, it should help some, but you just need to let it run its course. The cycle isn't over until you are zeros on nitrates and nitrites. You could also do water change, but I would not use tap water. You need to use ro or ro/di water if you want to avoid algae problems long term. Or if you have a source nearby you can buy NSW.
