Brown Algae???

I let my 90 gallon set - up cycle for 2 months before adding any fish or corals.. I just transferred my fish and coral over to this new tank. I'm using the same light on this tank as I used on my last, after 3 days I'm getting tons of brown algae just like in my last tank... Can the lights be doing this????

diatoms. it's normal and will go away and then followed by hair algae (likely). just use ro/di water if you're not already and ride it out. you can add a cleanup crew to help keep it under control in the meantime.

I know you said it was the same lighting , but did you make a change in you lighting cycle ? or maybe even replace any of the bulbs ?
Never the less I'm sure it's just a diatom bloom

I have a new light setup...but I need to build a canopy... I just don't want it to get crazy in the meantime...

the new lights would explain the diatom bloom, it should clear up in a few days really
