brown corals low nutrient

if i have placed wild acros too high up in my tank like 6 inches would they brown out ,showing signs of polyp extension and colored tips only ,now there not tank raised corals there wild and when i bought them they were mostly blue and white .250 metals 10 inches from water surfaces and 1400 kelvin aquaconnect bulbs ,with t 5 s.bubble king skimmer and nitrates are 10 to 15 ppm ,not sure about phos but clean tank no algae. thanks Andy oh 1026 refractometer 8 to 9 alk and 8.0 ph 450 ca and 1500 mag temp 80
