Brown Hair Algae

Is there such a thing a brown hair algae or is it just green. I've had the green stuff in a previous tank but now have this tannish brown algae growing all over my rocks, glass and sand. Looks kinda fuzzy. Water changes have slowed it down but not eliminated it. Does anyone know what it is so I can look it up to learn more about it?

I had the same problem for a while, if your tank is new, its most likely a diatom outbreak.. BTW, i was borin in slowcala lol.. my whole family lives there! =P

Does it look anything like this?

if so its just a diatom outbreak, give it a few weeks and it should be fine

Oh no, that's definitely not it. Mine is not red, it's brown or tan and much longer and thicker. I have pic but don't know how to post it. We're new to Ocala, moved here last November after retirement. We have a small (3 acre) mini farm, 2 horses, a dog and my reef. It's a great to place to live. Life is slow but enjoyable.
