Brown Jelly Disease

The good folks at RC have helped me identify my large Frogspawn has Brown Jelly Diease. Last night I siphoned off all the brown jelly & have started to do some reasearch. It sounds like people have had success with a Lugol's Iodine 5% dip.

I cannot find any drug store that sales or makes this. Can I use regular iodine? if so, how much idodine per gallon of water should i use? Thanks in advance for your continued assistance!

One other question: Has anyone ever used Coral RX on Brown Jelly Disease with success? Thanks!

I tried coral RX with no success... it killed a duncan frag and damaged a hammer. It started on my frogspawn which was my biggest coral. I cut it up into pieces and I threw away anything with brown jelly on it. I watched the other pieces for more... if it showed signs it went in the trash. I only lost one coral but lost parts of 2 others. good luck.

lugol's would be at or available to your lfs. regular iodine would be at the drug store. loguls is a long shot at best, its bacterial in nature so ethromycin or kanamycin dip should work. never done it but it works on other bacterial issues 100%. a whole tank treatment is reefsafe for cynobacteria but is hell on your biological filter so I suggest a dip instead. both of those products are available at any fish store or mos likley vets offices. over the counter so its easy to buy.
