I've recently added a bunch of chaeto to my nano tank. It is hanging in a net bag quite close to the LEDs with the power head pointed right at it, making it rock back and forth.
I've opened and looked at the chaeto and it seems okay, but I haven't seen too much growth in the last week. Some bits fall off if I open the back or move it and it seems to be collecting detritus (which I'm assuming is sort of a good thing).
Anyways, in the last couple of days there has been a lot of brown staining on one side of the top of the net bag. I'm assuming it is a diatom bloom of sorts, but it is nowhere else in the tank.
Can anyone explain why there would be a diatom bloom in that very specific and isolated area? And does it have anything to do with the chaeto?
