Wondering if any one has experience eliminating these things.

I added a new rock with misc. groth and now after only a short time, I moved some rocks arround and noticed an explosion of these buggers! There has to be about 50 of them. And to make it worse there on about 10 or so rocks, so there not isolated to one pice that can be removed and scrubed.

Any sugestions on what will "Take care of them" :O

I dont want these to over run my new tank when I switch all my rock over.

Tahnk you for the help.

Try to get a pic. It sounds like what you have is an Aptasia problem. If so, get some Joe's Juce, you just inject it on the mouth of the Aptasias and it should kill them. Peppermint shrimp work too but on smaller Aptasias.

Here is part of the outbreak. What do you think? Maybe a couple hundred peppermint shrimp with an appetite will do the job? :)/Users/mborkush/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Originals/2008/Roll 261/100_5973.JPG

Looks like Aiptaisa to me as well. to me. You can try A Copper Band Butterfly or a army pf Pepperment shrimp. You can also buy Joes juice or mix some kalk water up , or try hot water and inject them with a neddle.

The hard part is the back of these rocks are covered as well!!! There's just so many! How do we feel about removing these rocks to a small tank and try the Kalk. mix on each one till there gone? To take care of any others that may be in the main tank, a few shrimp? Gotta do some thing. I just added more pics to bucket including my new tank I'm starting up. Wish me luck....

cant tell exactly from the pic
but would want to rule out for certain that they are NOT majanos... if they are then you have a much bigger problem on your hands... otherwise peppermint shrimp work well at taking out aiptasia... might buy 6 or more and in few weeks your aiptasia should mostly be gone.

good luck

Majanos? I cant seem to find a pic using as search? Any one got one? Mine are brown with pink/purple dots on there tips.

Forget the Copperband butterfly fish, they are a hit or miss. I got a burgessi butterfly fish that has done an excellent job for me. It will eat get rid of all the anemonies that it can get at. Ihad to turn some rock over to it's side so the fish can get the job done. Now that it has the anemonies under control, it has started to nip on my LPS. I had to move all my LPS to my second tank.

if they have bubble tips on the end then there is a good chance they are majanos...

actually go to the SPS forum
and search for the link to the MAJANOS FROM HELL thread

there will be pics of veteran reefers having to take down their entire systems due to these majanos...

if you have better pics to post then perhaps would be bit easier to tell.

from the photos i can see
they look like majanos!... perhaps someone else can chime in w/ a more definite id...

especially if you noticed bubble tips on the ends of each of them...

if they are majanos then you want to get it taken care of asap
otherwise you might end up w/ your entire tank being overtaken by them...

a google search might give you better results on a search

here is what was pulled up at google for majano

i have had these before and i ended up taking out about 40pounds of LR and bleaching it (out of 200#)... then i didnt do anything w/ the tank for another 4 mos waiting to see if they were going to come back... which they havent... but this was only after thinking i removed them in the first place only to have them come back again in greater numbers...

see that thread called MAJANOS FROM HELL
in the sps forum and it will tell the majano story complete w/ pics

The first like is Identical! I saw on another posing they were calling them Tulip anemone's. So peppermint shrimp eat them huh?

you need to do something then - its pretty serious

that thread mentioned previously in the sps forum will give you all the info you need to know.

if its not handled carefully
then it will literally take over your tank.

peppermints dont eat majanos only aiptasia.

there are a few fish mentioned that (((might))) eat them

if you can remove all the rock/corals that have the majanos on them and put them somewhere like another tank or even rubbermaid container...

then that would be a good starting point
to try to prevent them from spreading any more... or onto your other LR or corals... and unfortunately it would be wise to look at each piece of LR individually to try and find where any of them are hiding.

from there would research all you can to come up w/ the best approach you want to take...

its certainly not something you want to be passive about dealing w/ either.

after having them keep coming back
finally decided to bleach the rocks i found them on... and that eventually took care of the problem...
