brown scum on surface

Hi,

I've only had my marine tank only a year and recently bought a skimmer (turbofloter 750 by aquamedic). since it has been running the surface has started to delevop a layer of thick scum. The skimmer seems to be doing its job and very slowly collecting waste but can anyone tell about the surface scum?

surface of the sand or surface of the water? If it is the surface of the water, are you actually skimming the surface of the water to feed into your skimmer?

Its the water surface and there is some turbulence. This has only started since i bought the skimmer and i'm running a filter with polyfilter as well.

how do you get water into the skimmer? Is there a skimmer box, and overflow chamber, do you have a photo?

There's a skimmer box in the tank, no overflow.
