So lately ive had a weird brownish dark spot on my derasa, since it went in the tank a month ago its been healthy, always open, no gapping, reacts to shadow very quickly, and recently ive noticed just a brown mark near the output siphon

the picture isnt the best, and the clam is semi closed because i had to move it to get a picture clear enough to see a tiny bit

it doesnt seem to be deteriorating, its just a brown spot(looks blue in the picurem but its a light brownish color)

any help would be great,

Thanks

I've noticed the same brown spots on my crocea. Most noticable when the lights are off with natural sunlight in the room.

Not sure if it's a bad sign or not, because, like you, the clam sure looks healthy.

My crocea is sitting right next to a mushroom & I think the mushroom might be pi$$ing it off. Thats my reasoning anyways. How about your clam, is it fighting for real estate?

Clam is sitting on the sand all alone, i have seen a bunch of i think rissoid(sp?) snails around

i got an ID before i bought it they are not pyramid, and dont feed on clams, btu maybe the ****ed it off? i caught a few on the shell but non on the mantle, they tend to stay on rocks more

with 20k bulbs ( your previous ) the PAR really starts to drop off after 6 months or so. clams can start to lose color under insufficient lighting conditions, hopefully your new bulb will solve the problem.
