I have successfully kept this chalice coral for over a year in my 29g biocube with no problems and in that time it had nearly doubled in size. Yesterday I noticed 3-4 brownish spots on different parts of the coral and today when I checked the tank the number of spots have doubled and the entire chalice is covered.
I added a tribal blenny two days ago. I read online that they have been known to mess with sps sometimes, but I figured it wouldn't do any harm since I don't house any of those in my reef tank. He was perching on top of a rock next to the chalice the night I added him before I noticed the spots the next morning. When I saw them I immediately moved the chalice to the sand. I haven't been able to catch him in the act except one nip at the corner right after he had been put it. I'm guessing he is the most likely culprit. Do these look like bite marks or does this resemble some sort of disease or parasite?? What can I do to save it?
I'm trying to post pictures from my phone with no luck. I will try to add them from my computer as a separate comment. Any help is much appreciated!
