brown stringy stuff

here is a shot of one of my new clams

recently it has had brown stringy stuff coming from its syphon and my clown loves eating it a little to much,my colwn is really bugging the clam what is this?how can it be fixed?

Its probably just feces. Nothing to worry about.

feces is usually blackish, the brown is probably excess zooxanthellae ( it's actually brown in colour ) or a combination of the two. this is perfectly normal in clams that are being kept under good strong lights, it can also be a sign of a problem. if his colour is still good then it is nothing to worry about, if his colour is fading then he may be dumping his zoox. for another reason which can be fatal.
