brown stuff on my overflow?

please look at the below pics and help if you can, but is this brown stuff algae? I am guessing the brown stuff is from food? Is it because when I feed the fish the food goes right into the overflow? How do I keep all the food from going right into the overflow box? Change my flow? i have a filter on the back side of the overflow. Is that not enough? to stop the brown. Sump has only been set up for two weeks. Water chemistry levels are as follows:
SG: 1.024
temp: 79.2
pH: 8
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 20
ALK dKH: 12
Ca: 425
Phosphate: 0
Mg: 1490

just a full tank shot (you cant see any brown here, ha ha):

Th brown stuff in the u tube and in the rubber hose in the sump or fuge is algae. You will always have some type of algae growing in the u tube until it gets covered in corraline, then the algae will subside.
Same goes for the tube in the sump/fuge, as long as light can get through the u tube and the hose you will have algae growth.

I would reccommend you to tape up the tube in the sump with elctrical tape to block out the light. Otherwise you will cut your flow down as algae builds up into it and it can become a nitrate factory.

thats what I am affraid of. "A Nitrate factory"! I could care less what it looks like, but I dont want the Nitrates that come with it.
thanks!

what about keeping food from going right into the overflow? change my flow?
