I just received a nice sized purple death colony that has browned. Any tips on hpw I can bring these back to that deep purple color they are famous for?
I agree they need to be shaded to get the deep purple color but before I knew this, mine just turned a very light purple. Is the light too intense because they are turning brown? I ask because I have had the same issues. I moved them and am waiting to see the results.
In all truth brown probably= healthy. But to get that nice color you have to shade em a bit.
Tate it really depends on what lighting you have. You just dont want them being blasted tword the top with MH. If you just moved them I would just wait it out and see what happens. Be patient cause it could take a while.
I have to disagree. IME if you give a PD too much light they tend to turn brown.
Some anemone's tend to do the same thing. I have noticed that it seems to be more drastic with purples than any other color. Purple tiped LTA's do the same thing.
Well in my tank to much light on my purple deaths they turn pure white and if I stick them in to much shade they brown out it's just the way it works with Purple Deaths.
