brs gfo and carbon question

my tubing came off the power head for my brs gfo reactor. dumping water onto the floor. thank heaven i got the tunze 3155 so my ato stopped after the 10 min causing no harm to the tank. can i tape the tubing to prevent this and if so, what kind of tape do i use

Is this ro tubeing? If so make sure the ends are cut straight they should lock into the fittings and not come out unless you push the fitting and pull the tube.

I dont think any tape will hold well enough when wet

i don't have one but have seen them, they are just RO/DI canisters and should have push connect fittings.

i guess but mine didnt come with any connectors. it fits in loosely thats all . i heard duck tape can work underwater. dont they use it on subs. or was that just a commercial i saw

Push in quick connects looks like this

If it's pushed flush into the fitting all the way you should not be able to pull it out without holding down the outer ring. This is the fitting on all of my BRS reactors and plumbing.

i have that didnt use it. i dont think it fits over the powerhead output. but will try again. its the powerhead output that came off. but i am not that handy so must likely i did something wrong. plus they one gave me 1 of those there are 3 connections. one powerhead. one intake or unit one outtake of unit

If you just have a friction fit over the power head, you can wedge it in place with either some Teflon tape or a zip tie as a clamp.

maybe shoot a picture of what you are dealing with...I don't have one of these reactors either, so trying to understand what kind of tubing you are trying to attach to the power head.

If its the cobalt mj1200 pump that comes standard with all the BRS reactors, the john guest fitting slips right onto the powerheads output. It locks into place just like using tubing, then slide the tubing in and that locks in place also.

thanks homer the little white thing is called a john guest fitting. my friend set up the reactor for me because he had one before. he didnt use the the fitting while setting up reactor. maybe he was jealous my tanked looked so good compared to his and wanted to sabotage mine :)

No problem.

Just setup my BRS mini couple weeks back, so I had first hand knowledge on how its suppose to be setup.

question, the tubbing that goes into the reastors. how is that hold into place. its doesnt seem that strong of a connect either

They work quite well. My ice maker connection for my refrigerator uses the same connections and they hold quite well.

thanks everyone all fixed. so quick question. how often do you need to change the gfo. i test for phosphates once a week. if they are still zero. i assume there is no need to change. or should i just do it once a month anyway

Carbon i usually change every 2 weeks and gfo once a month regardless if my test kits show po4 or not, sooner if needed
