Bryopsis outbreak

Hi Guys, my 16 gal biocube (about 5 weeks old) has a outbreak of bryopsis. I am reluctant to start dumping chemicals in to combat it since the tank is still so new and still balancing and sorting itself out. I dumped in quite a lot of snails a few days ago but they do not seem to be interested in it and there are no other inhabitants in the tank. Should I just pull it out with tweezers? I have read that it will surely come back if I do this. I am afraid to start dumping in stuff so what in the world to do? I do not want it to get too far ahead of me. There are several areas of it and this one is the worst.

I totally understand your reluctance to use chemicals, but I also say use fluconasole. Its effectiveness and safety are widely documented. I just completed a two and a half week treatment. My bryopsis was 100% eradicated and hair algae is knocked back more than 90%. No evidence of anything else being impacted at all.

I ordered mine from fishlifeantibiotics.com. You need 200mg per ten gallons of water. Just turn off your skimmer and dose once -- wait 2 weeks. Normal instructions are to not do any water changes for two weeks, but I can't see why you couldn't, as long as you appropriately dosed the new water.

Pffff at $16.99 for 200mg, my tank would cost $170 to treat once....Tech M Magnesium treatment is way cheaper and very effective.

You can get it off e*ay too. Last I bought was 10 capsules of 200mg for 14.99 with 1.99 shipping ! I used it on my 29 gal. Biocube and like everyone said it does eradicate the bryopsis and hair algae it with no side effects that I have seen as of yet !

its looks like youre off to a good start, if youre going natural id just remove it during water changes

I've done the magnesium treatment with great success.

On a side note, where'd you get your live rock? It looks amazing!

My cost was just a little over $1 per 200mg capsule.

Yeah, I went back and looked again 10, 200mg capsules for $16.99, that's pretty good, it appears initially that 200mg is $16.99, very misleading, they should change that. LOL

Tech M had a recipe change. If flucon is good enough for Jason fox, it is good enough for me.
